From President Richard First of all, I would like to say thank you to all of you who came and help pack biscuits at Nada Bakery. It was a fairly straightforward job, lots of steps to get to the finished presentation package, but I would say getting the shortbread into the bag was the trickiest part. Needless say that after the first couple of trays we had a bit of a rhythm going and the banter increased. Thank to Nada for the catering, if you ever want to start doing Pizzas as a side-line I think you would be on a winner. Now to another story, I caught up with this a little later than some, Rotary has nominated its first Women International President. Jennifer Jones will be the RI President 2022 -2023. It has only taken a bit over 115 years, or about 40 years after Women were allowed back into Rotary. Tony Heyward and I met Jennifer at South Pacific PETS, what a person, enthusiastic, committed, humble, empathetic and a work effort that would match the Energiser Bunny. Pat Waite has met her at the DG’s training sessions and is similarly impressed. I strongly believe Rotary is making a good choice.  For those who have not met or heard Jennifer, she will be presenting at the Virtual Conference in Alice Springs in a few weeks’ time. This piece will be shorter than some, as I write this it is Father’s Day and I have family over getting ready to have a celebration, so to all the fathers, grand fathers, and great grand fathers have a happy day. For those for whom COVID has meant you can’t be with them I know you will be with them is spirit. Together let us do Rotary. |
