Presidents Piece - 10 Sep - 2019

Have succumbed this weekend to one of the nasty bugs floating around. Yes I had the flu jab but this is something I caught off my delicious grandsons. You tend to think children’s viruses are not so nasty (generalisation) but this has been a pain, literally. All over – especially the head and eyeballs!

Anyway its given me time to lie in bed and reflect on matters, sometimes in a paracetamol and neurofen induced fog, but one of the ideas I have come up with is that its time Tawa Rotary had our own sign written gazebo. Not a big one but just a 3x3 meter that will increase the awareness of our club. We can provide a service to the community by loaning it to others or it can be a small ongoing source of funding by having a small fee attached. This needn’t be an expensive purchase, there are quite reasonably priced ones around, even second hand, but I have a strategy for helping to pay for it.
I am prepared to contribute a quarter of the cost to the have on one side a “Sponsored by Nada Bakery” sign on it. Obviously Tawa Rotary will have prime and larger lettering. I wonder if we can persuade other businesses or indeed individuals to match that? Please think who you might approach to do this and let me know if they accept. The sooner, the better – we might be able to make this happen in time for Spring into Tawa to house our Tawa Rotary Stall at that event.
Have a great week. Keep well.

Yours in Rotary,

Judith

District 9940 Fellowship Exchange heads to Orange NSW

You will recall some of the visitors that we hosted and entertained earlier this year from Orange, NSW, in the last few weeks our District headed to Orange to return the   exchange. Our own Margaret and Richard Herbert took the opportunity to join the return group.  It looked fun with plenty to see and do, we look forward to an update on their return to Tawa.

Presidential Message August 2019

Mark Maloney  -  President 2019-20

During 2019-2020, I am encouraging Rotarians and Rotaractors to grow Rotary.   We must grow our service, we must grow the impact of our projects, but, most importantly, we must grow our membership so that we can achieve more.

Let us try a new approach to membership, one that is more organized and strategic.   I am asking every club to form an active membership committee consisting of people of different backgrounds who will look methodically at the leadership of the community.
