THIS WEEKS ROTARY MEETING

Tuesday 13 August 2019

This week's speaker is Les Williams from Family Heart. Family Heart exists to provide support to families / family members who are vulnerable or in difficulty, in particular where parents are separated or at risk of separating. They also provide life coaching support to individuals who want to move their lives forward. Independent professional educational psychology assessment and support for children is also available.

Les Williams and wife Catherine are co-founders of Family Heart and between them bring a broad and deep wealth of skills, experience and commitment to supporting parents and their families.

District Directories 2019/20 are now available from the club.

Last Week:

Last Tuesday, 6th August, we had a traditional peas, pies and pud dinner, followed by committee meetings, prior to the August Board meeting.

Judith shared some insight into the process involved with judging for the best NZ pies and we were privileged to have the gold medal steak & cheese pie and bronze medal pork and crackling pie for dinner. Judith also conducted a unique pie themed sergeant session.

PDG Martin talked to the club about Tawa putting forward a suggested nominee for a Zone 8 representative for the roll of Rotary International Director.

In the 3 minute speaker slot Jordyn gave a brief update on her Rotary youth exchange to Canada.

Karyn thanked the club for the support provided to their family over the past couple weeks and months when her mother, Leslie Mead, has not been well and since her passing.

Sergeant collected $95.00
Raffle raised $30.00

During 2019-2020, I am encouraging Rotarians and Rotaractors to grow Rotary. We must grow our service, we must grow the impact of our projects, but, most importantly, we must grow our membership so that we can achieve more.

Let us try a new approach to membership, one that is more organized and strategic. I am asking every club to form an active membership committee consisting of people of different backgrounds who will look methodically at the leadership of the community.
