Probus announces International Day of Older Persons as Probus Day Probus is all about FRIENDSHIP, FELLOWSHIP and FUN in retirement. 1 October 2020 was the inaugural annual celebration of Probus Day with an inaugural Probus Day theme all about Staying Connected. This day is all about celebrating Probus, while connecting with retirees and semi retirees and inviting them to find out more about Probus. Established in New Zealand in 1974, Probus is a not-for-profit organisation with over 14,000 members. Probus is all about social connections in retirement. Probus Clubs provides the opportunity for retirees and semi-retirees to come together in our local community, make new friends, hear wonderful guest speakers, participate in a range of activities, and opens the door to new experiences and friendships in retirement. The Probus Club of Tawa was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tawa and commenced in 1995 and today has 80+ members. Tawa Probus meets monthly at the Tawa Bowling Club, 13 Davies St, Tawa, on the 3rd Monday of the month (except Dec and Jan), at 9.30am, for speakers and morning tea.
