Tonight is our Quiz Night at the Borough

We have our teams set, will be a good night.

Weekly Rosters and Duties

This reminder will help:

Set-up: Try to be there at 5.30 and help get the room ready for meeting
Greeters: Please arrive by 5.30 to meet and greet members and visitors. Fill in Visitors badges and direct them to a member to host them if possible. Sell raffle tickets.
Starting & Parting Thought: Be ready to go at 6.10
3 Minute Talk: Prepare something of interest, or entertaining. Or both.
Introduction & Thanks: Do some research prior to the evening. Be there by 5.45 if possible to greet guest speaker. You are their host for the evening. Perhaps offer to buy them a drink. Introduce them to members. Host them at dinner.
Sergeant: Prepare a session that will extract money from members through fines or other means.

Tuesday night is our Quiz Night, this has been planned for a good while and postponed due to COVID restrictions. Inner Wheel got their Quiz Night in last week and did very well, a lot of fun. I hope ours does as well and is very bit as much fun.

Our Book Fair starts Saturday and will run for the next 3 weekends, this is one of our big fund raisers this year, so we all need to get in behind and support Pat and his team.

Our program is also filling up with a lot scheduled between now and the end of the year, there will be something for everybody.

Let us do Rotary together.

Probus

Probus announces International Day of Older Persons as Probus Day

Probus is all about FRIENDSHIP, FELLOWSHIP and FUN in retirement.

1 October 2020 was the inaugural annual celebration of Probus Day with an inaugural Probus Day theme all about Staying Connected. This day is all about celebrating Probus, while connecting with retirees and semi retirees and inviting them to find out more about Probus.

Established in New Zealand in 1974, Probus is a not-for-profit organisation with over 14,000 members. Probus is all about social connections in retirement. Probus Clubs provides the opportunity for retirees and semi-retirees to come together in our local community, make new friends, hear wonderful guest speakers, participate in a range of activities, and opens the door to new experiences and friendships in retirement.

The Probus Club of Tawa was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Tawa and commenced in 1995 and today has 80+ members. Tawa Probus meets monthly at the Tawa Bowling Club, 13 Davies St, Tawa, on the 3rd Monday of the month (except Dec and Jan), at 9.30am, for speakers and morning tea.

ROTARY CLUB OF TAWA

Quiz Evening

Tuesday 6 October

(Delayed by COVID-19)

The Borough, Tawa 7 pm – 9 pm

Just an update on the Rotary Pub Quiz evening, next Tuesday 6 October at The Borough, Main Road Tawa. The quiz will start at 7pm and will finish at 9pm. I suggest you get there a little earlier than 7pm. If you do decide to have a meal at The Borough that evening, it would be best to make a reservation.

If you haven’t already paid for your tickets ($12 each), please make a credit payment into the Rotary bank account (BNZ 02 0552 0037039 00), identifying the credit with your name.

A number of raffles will be drawn during the evening – prizes include vouchers for food hampers/baskets, drinks, meat pack, beauty products. Tickets cost $5, but 3 tickets can be purchased for $10.

All takings from the evening will be donated to local Rotary Charitable projects, including those at Tawa College, food banks and children’s needs.

Thank you for your support, we look forward to a great fun-filled evening with you on Tuesday.
