Last Weeks Events - Movie Fundraiser

Last week, on Tuesday 5th June, we had a successful evening out at the movies as a fundraiser event.   Thanks to the 51 members and friends who attended, enabling $500 to be raised.

The Board had agreed that the fundraising in this case was to support an international project that locally is being co-ordinated by Plimmerton Club for the outfitting of new classrooms for the Belola Prep-School & Kindergarten, in the Bobonaro area of Timor Leste.

Working Bees

Saturday 9th June

Many thanks to Brian for the loan of his ITM Tawa truck and to Plimmerton Rotary and fellow Tawa members and Malcom's son, who all contributed to complete the transfer of the Book Fair trays and trestles from the Plimmerton Rotary lockup to New World Tawa shop, and also to complete the tray layout, except the backroom, to enable the start of book sorting and placement to commence.  The donations box was also placed in the atrium and book donations and already rolling in.   Please contact Doug Burrus if you wish to assist with the book sort and/or wish to be kept informed of progress at the Book Fair shop.

And in the afternoon, thanks again to the use of the ITM Tawa truck, we were able to help complete the next changeover of the Tawa Business Centre hanging flower baskets.    Thanks to help from Brian, Tony, Richard, Paul, Robert, Doug, and two members of the Tawa Potted Colour Group.

Sunday 10th June

With the help of about 18 members from Port Nicholson Rotary co-ordinated by their president Lisa King, Friends of Tawa Bush Reserves were able to complete the planting of about 500 trees at the southern end of Woodburn Reserve, and so help contribute to the Rotary worldwide goal of planting a tree for every Rotary member to help mitigate the effects of climate change.    There are also further tree planting opportunities planned in Tawa this winter for Sunday afternoon 8th July and Sunday afternoon 29th July.    Please contact Richard Herbert if interested in helping.
