Thanks to those who turned out to help with the Book Fair - we did very well for the first weekend - details will be announced on Tuesday.
 
This Tuesday, 17th July our speaker is Liz Koh, Vocational Service Chair for District 9940 (from Kapiti Club) will present, alongside fellow Rotarian Bruce Morgan.  They will talk about the 9940 Vocational initiatives in progress and Bruce will also present on the “Work Ready Passport” scheme which will involve Rotary working with Skills Organisations in our district.
 
Liz has been a member of Kapiti Rotary for 17 years and in that time has been Youth Director, and President.   During 2017 Liz was awarded a Paul Harris Fellow.
 
In her private life, Liz works as a personal financial adviser having established her financial planning company, Moneymax, in 1999, after a successful career in management.   Her practical, common-sense advice has led to a flourishing business and many referrals from her growing list of clients.   Liz is also keen property investor and a volunteer mentor with Business Mentors New Zealand.

This Tuesday on 10th July we met at the New World shop for a Book Fair work-bee and our traditional fish 'n' Chip meal at this time.   And on Friday we held a Rotary members and friends and family book fair preview.   Thanks to those who came along and help get the book fair preparations ready for opening.

REGIONAL CONFERENCE - Hobart
 
I few of us are planning to attend the Rotary Zone 8 Conference at Hobart in September 2018.
 
Perhaps you'd like to come along with us.   International Rotary Conferences are a great way to learn more about the work of Rotary and how the organisation works.  
 
Balibo Movie Fundraiser
 
The Rotary Club of Plimmerton is organising a fundraiser screening of the movie "Balibo", which tells the story of the 5 journalists of Australian television networks, reporting from the village of Balibo, East Timor, who were killed in the period leading up to the Indonesian invasion of East Timor in 1975.
 
Wednesday 18 July at 6pm.  Arrive at 5pm for hot soup and raffles.  Tickets $25 - see Richard Herbert.
 
Fundraising to build and provide equipment for new school rooms at Balibo, serving 120 children under the age of 8 years.
