Presidents Piece - 27 August 2019
Judith Gray

The days are getting ever so slightly longer and on Saturday I really felt a hint of spring in the air. A few daffodils in the garden and lots of fragrant daphne on the bushes by my back door.
I had the privilege of putting on an afternoon tea for my uncle on Saturday for his 97th birthday. Some members from his Rotary Club of Wellington South were in attendance and it made me realise how much the fellowship he has enjoyed from that club has meant to him. He is a past President and a two time Paul Harris fellow. About 6 weeks ago members of his club arrived at the rest home where he now resides and surprised him with a Life Membership of the Club. He was absolutely thrilled.
Jim (van Praag) loves discussing Rotary with me when I visit him and has passed on many good tips. When he was President of his club he got a new member almost every week by inviting their guest speak to join the club. I haven’t quite gone that far yet but it’s a possibility?

Have a great week.

Yours in Rotary,

Judith

Presidential Message August 2019

Mark Maloney  -  President 2019-20

During 2019-2020, I am encouraging Rotarians and Rotaractors to grow Rotary.   We must grow our service, we must grow the impact of our projects, but, most importantly, we must grow our membership so that we can achieve more.

Let us try a new approach to membership, one that is more organized and strategic.   I am asking every club to form an active membership committee consisting of people of different backgrounds who will look methodically at the leadership of the community.
