Anita Baker, Mayor of Porirua City, will talk about her time as Mayor and why she supports the water reforms.
Anita Baker was born and raised in Porirua City. She was first elected to the Porirua City Council in 2010. Her journey goes from growing up in Paremata, to solo mum, administrator, community worker, setting up a private college, project manager then Councillor and now Mayor.
Reported in May 2022, she welcomed the Government progress on Three Waters reforms, saying that without the major restructure, Council would not have the resources to deliver water needs to an acceptable standard.
