Items of Interest from Board Meeting 16 August 2022
- Rotary Foundation approved a Grant of $1,000 to assist in upgrading the signage at Wilf Mexted Reserve.
- Three Board Members met with Tawa College Principal Andrew Savage to explain the partnerships between Rotary and the College and the Youth programmes sponsored by Rotary. We are to consider how we could provide support to the teaching staff who are under considerable pressure at present.
- We have suggested a joint meeting with Lions on Wednesday 12th October at Linden Community Centre, with guest speaker Andrew Savage (to be confirmed).
- Meal Payments – the introduction of EFT-POS has been considered but not feasible at this time. Payments can be made by Cash, Internet Banking or Automatic Payment.
- Progress is being made on developing a Peace Labyrinth at Coronation Park.
- There is a possibility of a Book Fair late September / early October using the scout & Guide Halls at Coronation Park.
- Pride in Work – information has been provided to local businesses and non-profit organisations. Financial assistance has been provided by the Tawa Business Group. Applications have started to come in. Presentation Dinner scheduled for 18 October.
- Planning is underway for the “Party in the Plaza” to be held after the Lions Christmas Parade on 3rd December. Members are invited to join the organising committee – please see Judith Gray who has developed the Business Case.
