President Joe - Update
Kia ora Rotary Whanau

Tuesday was a great evening with Sebastian Grood, Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Manager for the Life Flight Trust sharing the beginnings, early days and current state of play for this essential service. The demands of the service have grown and there is a real pressure on the organisation to meet that need through new planes and equipment. Today they can expect a call out every 4 hours, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help those in desperate need. The partnerships that exist between the clinical teams, aircrews and others are amazing!

To this end they are soon to launch a public appeal for funds to support their continuing endeavours. For the three new planes they have purchased from the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Oz, they need additional equipment (about $300,000). At this stage, Sebastian is touring the 9940 Region with our very own Judith Gray as chair of the Wellington Childrens Hospital Trust to promote this and to seek our partnership as a district something that we will actively consider – especially for the work they do and its on our very doorstep!

This week’s raffle (a HUGE meat pack from our friends at New World) was won by Paul Drummond – lucky man!

The recent dinner for polio at English Dhaba raised $150, and that will be increased to $500 by a donation from the club to further support the cause.

After this, the board meeting considered the upcoming SGM (23 May), arrangements for handover (4 July) and ongoing projects and planning as we head to the new Presidents Elect year. More on this in due course – have a look at Pauls notes from the meeting.

Date for the Diary – 27 June quiz night at the Borough, tables of 6-8 $15 per head. Bring a friend!!! Or your whole family!!!

As hosts, it would be fantastic to have a good turnout of Tawa Rotarians at this event. Details are noted below:

Action Plan

As People of Action, we understand that fulfilling that vision requires a plan.
More than a century ago, we pioneered a new model of service leadership grounded in person-to-person connections. Today, those connections are a network that spans the globe—bridging cultural, linguistic, generational, and geographic barriers—and shares the vision of a better world. As People of Action, we understand that fulfilling that vision requires a plan.
