GREAT ARTICLE HERE: Ukrainian clubs help others in need in their country

Rotary members in Ukraine are helping neighbors return to their homes, distributing supplies from other countries, and organizing long-term aid — all despite being affected by the war themselves.

Since Russian military forces entered the country in late February, Rotary members have been holding regular video calls to coordinate relief work. Mykola Stebljanko, a member of the Rotary E-Club of Ukraine and the editor of Rotary's Ukrainian magazine, Rotariets, says they are focused on three main activities: supplying medicines and electricity to hospitals where wounded civilians are seeking care, finding shelter for displaced families, and managing the flow of incoming humanitarian aid.

President Karyn Notes

Hi everyone,

Another wet week, great if you’re a duck, for getting those indoor projects done or just relaxing with a hot drink and a good book/bingeworthy TV series.

This week I have my last Network Presidents’ meeting with Kath Beattie and the other Presidents, from Johnsonville, Plimmerton and Porirua. Kath is also finishing her term as AG, so Joe will be starting his term with a new AG, but plenty of experience in the presidents of the other clubs, most of whom have previously been President. Kath has been great to work with and has been hugely supportive of all of us. Hopefully she’ll enjoy having a bit of time back for herself.

There are a number of club communications that have gone out this week, if you haven’t received them, please let Paul Drummond know:

an email from Paul Drummond with the Board minutes and budgets for the coming year. There will be some time at this week’s meeting for any questions or discussions on those.
an invite for Changeover on the 28^th June. $30 per person, and partners are invited. Will be great to see you there as we hand over the chains of office to Joe.
