Hope you’re all having a relaxing and enjoyable labour weekend.
A great night on Tuesday with our Pride in Work awards and the presentation of the PHF to Murray Lucas. A Huge thanks to everyone involved, especially Pat and Judith, but also those who organised thing in the background, set up the room, helped clean up etc – these events are a real team thing, and it’s great to have so many involved and see things going so smoothly. All our guests seemed to enjoy themselves and had some really positive things to say about the event.

We were also able to sell some wipes for the Childrens’Hospital fundraising, and maybe some raffle tickets too? Liz has sourced some great prizes, which would make wonderful Xmas pressies for young kids. Each of us is being given 5 books to sell – 5 tickets in a book, $5 each or $20 for the book. Pls do your best to sell those tickets allocated, and any more that you’re able to do.
This week is our Youth Night, and we have 2 young guests and their parents attending:
- Aleha Thomas - our nominee for the National Science Forum
- Megan Latu – our Innovative Young Mind attendee
We’ve been lucky enough to have some of the youth events continue this year given restrictions, so will be great to hear how Megan got on at IYM.
Don’t forget your RSVPs to the Melbourne Cup night next Tuesday, and to invite your partner’s, friends etc to the following week’s meeting, where we have Lady Susan Satyanand speaking to us.
And to finish this week on a nice note – I was advised this week that I won a competition at work for a Volunteer Hero – Cherrie, one of my staff, and our Ryla candidate from early this year nominated me, the prize is $500 to a charity of my choice. I’m going to put it towards the Rotary Give Every Child a Future programme, under our Club’s name and this amount will vaccinate 11 of the 100,000 children that we’re hoping to vaccinate as part of our 100 years celebration. A very tiny drop in the bucket I know, but it’s a start.
