GREAT ARTICLE HERE: Ukrainian clubs help others in need in their country

Rotary members in Ukraine are helping neighbors return to their homes, distributing supplies from other countries, and organizing long-term aid — all despite being affected by the war themselves.

Since Russian military forces entered the country in late February, Rotary members have been holding regular video calls to coordinate relief work. Mykola Stebljanko, a member of the Rotary E-Club of Ukraine and the editor of Rotary's Ukrainian magazine, Rotariets, says they are focused on three main activities: supplying medicines and electricity to hospitals where wounded civilians are seeking care, finding shelter for displaced families, and managing the flow of incoming humanitarian aid.

President Karyn Notes
Hi everyone,  hope you’re all making the most of the long weekend.

After a week of being unwell, Kevin and I have been trying to balance getting some things done around he house with some downtime – not too sure just how successful that’s actually been, but never mind, at least we’re on the recovery path.

Those of us that went to Circa Theatre for Cringeworthy, The 80’s last Sunday had a great time, reliving our younger years – amazing how I can still remember the lyrics to all the songs, but I can’t remember what I walked into a room for!

This afternoon we have First Sunday drinks at the Sprig and Fern from 4-6 -hope to see a number of you there, and please bring along partners, family or friends.

A big thanks to those that stepped in to cover me for what I’m sure was a great night on Tuesday.

We haven’t been able to get a replacement speaker for this coming Tuesday, so there will be no meeting this week.

RSVPs required
I haven’t had any response from anyone wanting to attend the Wine Tasting at the Thistle Inn on the 21st.  We’ll need to  confirm numbers this week, so please let me know ASAP if you’ll be attending, and if you are bringing anyone else -partners, friends welcome.  If we don’t get the numbers confirmed, we’ll have to cancel the event.

Joe’s Plan for the year
As discussed, Joe Asghar sent out a copy of his plan for the year. He’s trying to get everything finalised and speakers booked in.  Thanks for those that have provided him some feedback – but any more would be appreciated.

Last Week in May 2022

Last weeks Meeting 31 May 2022

Tawa Rotary hosted Brad Olsen, one of New Zealand’s leading economic commentators, he gave us a great update, with an informative presentation on this year’s Budget.

The presentation was very interesting, supported by good up to date information. Certainly a night to remember. We were joined by members of the Tawa Business Group for the evening, along with visitors and partners, thank you Pat and Judith for organising the evening

Circa Theatre Fundraiser

48 people went to Cringeworthy The 80s at Circa Theater Sunday week ago. Fantastic show. Interesting covering not only the songs of the 80s but the history of the 80s too. Thank you to all Rotarians and friends who supported this fundraiser. We raised $720 from the evening. Goody bags were given out thanking everyone for their support. Fantastic polished, thank you Liz Sutton for orgasnising

Action Plan

As People of Action, we understand that fulfilling that vision requires a plan.
More than a century ago, we pioneered a new model of service leadership grounded in person-to-person connections. Today, those connections are a network that spans the globe—bridging cultural, linguistic, generational, and geographic barriers—and shares the vision of a better world. As People of Action, we understand that fulfilling that vision requires a plan.
