Hi all, on a wet and wild weekend. I hope you’re all dry and toasty. Amazing that less than a week ago we were in a heatwave and today it’s 13 deg! Once again, we had an amazing stroke of luck with our working bee on Tuesday, where we got awesome weather for a lot of hard work. Pictures will be coming, but big thanks to Kevin, Joe and Richard Hutchinson who were able to build an amazing looking raised garden box from old pallets. Meanwhile Joe, Gaylene, Laura, Phil, Brian & I got to work with the hedge trimmers and loppers to tidy up the driveway/parking area - it looks so much better, but I need to get better at doing the before and after shots. We followed that up with a BBQ cooked by their chef, and Noelette was thrilled to be able to show me the 3 bench seats they were able to buy with the $2000 donation we provided as part of our 50th anniversary grant. 2 of the seats are in the attached image and Noelette says they’ve been really well used by the residents, especially in the warmer weather we’ve been having. This week we have Maia from Lazy Sneakers joining us for a formal meeting. The board will be meeting afterwards if anyone has any questions or thoughts. No meeting the following week as we have a movie night on the Sunday. Liz will be firming up details shortly. On the 1st March, we have Ashley from New World speaking at our meeting – she and her husband Scott are the new owners of our local New World Supermarket, having moved down from up north to take on this new venture, while pregnant and trying to organise everything in a lockdown. Liz and I met with her a few weeks ago, and she’s really keen to look at how we can work together to help our community. Planning is under way for a Ceilidh in July – hopefully by then, the Covid status has levelled out and we’ll all be ready for a great night out. April 19th we are scheduled for a wine tasting night at the Thistle Inn in town. We will need to confirm numbers by late March, so we’ll provide details over the next few weeks. cheers Karyn |
