Well, May is let’s get back to seeing each other in person month.
First Sundays
We started the month with the first of what is now going to be a monthly event – catching up at the Sprig & Fern – 4-6pm, on the first Sunday of every month.
This first one had over a dozen of us catching up and socialising. Was great to see people in person, and will be a great intro to us for anyone you think may be interested in finding out a bit about Rotary and what great people we are – so please feel free to come each month, and if you want to bring anyone along, we’ll make them feel welcome. It’s also a great way of supporting one of our regular Raffle sponsors.
Raffles
Talking of which, recognising our sponsors isn’t something we’ve been doing so well, and obviously their support helps us in so many ways. So going forward, we’ll be publishing in the bulletin, who the sponsor and the winner of the raffle was. Obviously, we haven’t had too many raffles lately with Zoom meetings, but the last couple are as follows:
-New World Tawa gift basket – won by Richard Herbert
-New World Tawa meat pack – won by Malcolm Andrews
-Sprig & Fern voucher – won by Karyn Meade.
Hanging Baskets
Last Sunday also saw a number of us putting up the new hanging baskets on the main road. These have been in place since 2012 and are funded by a number of organisations and residents of Tawa, while we provide the labour to hang and remove them. This year’s flowers were provided by Anneke at Embrace Design, and both look and smell great (a real mix of flowers and herbs in there) and are receiving a lot of really positive comments – people are loving having them back and looking so great.
Thanks to all that helped on the day, and Brian Frampton for the use of his truck, which definitely made the work much easier for those us starting at the Northern end (no climbing up and down ladders).
Alcohol Wipes
We have been offered the opportunity to get some more alcohol wipes for free from the Rotary Club of Whanganui - as they’ve now passed their expiry date of April, they are giving them away and have a number of boxes available. Porirua club has 7 boxes of 25 packets avaialable, and we can either get more brought down in a few weeks, or if is anyone going to Whanganui and can pick some up that could also be an option.
