Hoping this update finds you well. I know that there is significant levels of sickness floating around at the minute and we have a number of members having short breaks and holidays.
For Tues 29 November the Board have agreed to postpone Prof Michael Baker as we see this as an opportunity that hasn’t been fully capitalised on. So, there is no meeting this week.
Last week we had Lee Wilkinson challenge our thinking around what attracts volunteers or potential members to our activities and projects (flip chart feedback attached). It got us reflecting on what we do, the fact that we need younger volunteers and helpers and the need for us to be organised, planned and committed to the activities. All-in-all really useful thoughts that will help us better prepare for getting others involved and drawing them into the club.
Congratulations to Tony who won the raffle prize from Sprig and Fern – and I am sure will be sharing the love at our next social catchup on Sunday 4 Dec at 4pm….see you there!
We also had Liz Koh and Kay Philips, our Area Governors drop in and introduce themselves. They shared that their primary function is one of liaison, and acting as champions for clubs in the area, providing support and sharing ideas. They are keen to develop a strategic approach that support the development of clubs (governance, alliances, communications etc.) – and of course are keen to be contacted if any members have thoughts or ideas.
Activities and fundraising
Party in the Plaza Saturday 3 Dec is all go! – Judith does need volunteers if you are able to help please contact Judith at this stage, popcorn, sausage sizzle, choirs etc etc!
Rotary End of year Christmas Party: Saturday 10 December at Liz’s house from 5.30pm. Dinner costs and details to be advised shortly, partners welcome!
Christmas Gift Wrapping (Porirua) 2-hour slots are available to support our Porirua Club neighbours.

Summer Hope Pyjama Drive – this is again in swing, Tawa New World is the drop of point for any donations for this.
There was a brief Board meeting on Tuesday evening as a number of members were absent. Key points of note:
We have donated funds to Scouts for the use of the hall for the bookfair and to support the purchase of a special lifting chair at Longview home
Focused on the upcoming Party in the Plaza and Concert in the Park (5 March 2023)
The updates on the regionalisation pilot noted.
