Hi all,
Thanks to those that came to our last minute, impromptu dinner at the Sprig and Fern on Tuesday, it was a nice night, just chatting to people, and while I was disappointed by usual Bangers & Mash has gone from the menu the Thai Beef Salad was yummy.
This week we have Lady Susan Satyanand an her husband former Governor General Anand Satyanand as our guests. I know we have some additional guests from Inner Wheel, as well, and any of your families or friends that want to attend are more than welcome as usual.
The final touches are being organised for the bench seat we’re donating to the Tawa Dog Park, as part of our 50 year donations. It will be great to have that in for summer when the park is well used.
We have new hi-vis vests being ordered – moving away from the orange, which I know will please many people, and allow us to replace many of the others which are looking very tired.
An update below on the Tawa College Hip Hop group we provided at grant for costumes to help them get to the National Champs earlier this year, after winning the local Wellington competition.
Hi Paul, We didn’t end up placing at nationals but it was the best we had done it and everyone danced very well. I’ve attached some photos of us in the costumes that you helped fund. I would just like to say a hugeeee thank you again from all of our crew for your donation it really means a lot to us and took away a lot of stress.
Thanks, Aiden
Givealittle Page
As part of the award I won recently through work, there was a $500 donation to a charity of my choice. I chose Rotary (of course) and am keen to put that towards the Give Every Child progamme to vaccinate 100,000 children in 9 Pacific countries against things like Rotavirus, Cervical Cancer and Pneumococcal disease. In order to pay the money, work required it to go to a Givealittle account,. So i’ve now set up a page for the club which we can use to accept donations for various projects going forward. If anyone wants to check it out or share it, the link is here:

Upcoming activities – your time and effort required please:
Raffle tickets
if you’re after more to sell, please see Liz Sutton. Now that Spring in to Tawa and the Xmas Parade/Party in the Plaza have been cancelled, it does put more pressure on us all to sell as many as we can.
We may have some more Saturdays selling tickets outside the Lotto shop on the main road, and if so, will be looking for volunteers to do a shift.
Stuff the Trailers
is coming up at the end of the month, so will also be calling for volunteers for that. Richard Herbert and I have a meeting with Inner Wheel etc on Thursday so will have more info for you next week.
Xmas wrapping at Outlet City
we’ve been offered the opportunity to do this as a fundraiser, which we’re looking to do with Inner Wheel. Unfortunately it is likely to mean that we can’t help Porirua Rotary with their Xmas Wrapping at North City (although if anyone is available to do both, they’d love the help, pls advise). Further details coming soon, but will be 1-2 hour shifts.
Upcoming events – your responses please:
We have a few events coming up that we need decisions on, and RSVPs so that catering etc can be sorted for our visits. Pls do so as early as possible:
