It’s been a busy week for us this week,
Tuesday’s presentation of the survey results showed us some interesting things. Some work to be done, some changes to be made, and some things that really weren’t a surprise at all.
As discussed on the night, hopefully the work the board has been doing to increase the Comms and the visibility of the schedule is already addressing some of the points raised. You won’t be hearing the shaking of the sergeants box any more and there are other changes we need to look at as a group. I’m hoping we can break these into smaller focus areas and look at them on some meeting nights. I have some copies of the survey results to send out, happy to send anyone else a copy, just let me know.
Our speaker, Greg O’Connor arrived for the last part of the conversation and was very interested in the results and the discussion he heard. It’s the first time I’ve heard him speak and thought he was an animated speaker, who gave us an interesting speech, that touched on many things while trying to stay away from the political - possibly disappointing to some, but as Rotary is a non-political group, looking to ensure diversity in its membership and remain current for the future, his content was appropriate.
Friday night saw a number of us dusting off our dancing shoes (and trying to find formal clothes that would cater for the Covid kilos many of us have acquired) all to raise funds for the Milk Bank Ball.
Denise will provide a full update once the final details come in, but it was a great night, with so many comments from everyone about how much fun they had and that it should be an annual event - food for thought perhaps? The timing was great, I suspect that after lockdown and with the current issues, many people appreciated the chance to let their hair down and just focus on having a good night, and that contributed to the great atmosphere.
Thanks to all that helped out at Super Saturday down at Linden Medical Centre, and to Richard Herbert for coordinating everything. It was a very late notice event, with reqmts changing up until the last minute, but with over 120,000 vaccines given throughout the country, pretty successful.

We have a busy few weeks coming up:
Tuesday 19th, the Pride in Work awards, a number of guests, fancier meal ($30) and what will be an inspiring evening.
Tuesday 26th, we have a Youth night, where we’ll be hearing back from one of our sponsored attendees.
Tuesday 5th November is the annual Melbourne cup visit to Plimmerton club, more details to follow.
Tuesday 12 November is Lady Susan Satyanand. Rotarian, and wife of the ex-Governor General. We’ll be extending invites to Inner Wheel, Lions and other clubs, and as usual, you’re welcome to invite your partner or anyone else you feel may be interested.
Porirua Rotary is once again looking for people to help with the Christmas present wrapping at North City. They have over 300 hours to cover, and with only 11 members, would appreciate all help. All donations from the wrapping goes to the Regional Children’s Hospital. First thing needed, is someone from our club to step up and coordinate our members on the roster. Pls let me know if this is something you’re keen to take on, it’s a smallish project for a great cause.
